Cave Spring Cellars Sommelier Award of ExcellenceThe Cave Spring Cellars Sommelier Award of Excellence is awarded to a graduating student who demonstrates academic excellence throughout the entire program, superlative service exam results and a passion and dedication to the art and science of a sommelier.Cave Spring Cellars generously provides this award to the most outstanding student of each graduating compressed class. The recipient is presented with a plaque to commemorate the achievement, and a trip for two to the Niagara wine region that includes meals, accommodations and a V.I.P winery tour. You need JavaScript enabled to view it This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it National Capital Sommelier Guild Scholarship for Wine EducationThe National Capital Sommelier Guild (NCSG) is one of the largest non-profit associations of volunteer wine enthusiasts in Canada dedicated to the responsible enjoyment of wine. A core mission is to enhance educational opportunities and foster development of professionalism in all aspects of the wine trade. Accordingly, the NCSG is proud to sponsor a Scholarship for Wine Education for the benefit of individuals employed full-time in the hospitality industry in the Ottawa-Gatineau community. This Scholarship will be awarded annually in the amount of $500 to a student enrolled in the compressed Sommelier Certificate Program at Algonquin College and includes a one year membership in the NCSG. Qualifications To qualify for the Scholarship, the applicant must be: 1. Employed full-time in the hospitality industry in the Ottawa-Gatineau community, and 2. Enrolled in the Second Semester of the compressed Sommelier Certificate Program at Algonquin College. Applications Applications for the Scholarship must: 1. Be received on or before January 31. 2. Include a copy of the applicant’s marks from the first semester of the compressed Program. 3. Include a letter of application with a return postal address and a summary of the applicant’s background, interests, activities, and aspirations. 4. Include a letter of reference from the applicant’s employer. If self-employed, confirmation of business activity and business address on company letterhead plus a letter of support from an unrelated person in the hospitality industry in Ottawa-Gatineau. Completed applications, with all supporting material, should be submitted to the Secretary of the National Capital Sommelier Guild at: Suite 130, 99 Fifth Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario K1S 5P5. The NCSG reserves the right to make no award or more than one award. The decision of the NCSG is final and not subject to appeal. Vittoria Trattoria – Pillitteri Winery Sommelier Award of ExcellenceThe Vittoria Trattoria – Pillitteri Winery Sommelier Award of Excellence is awarded to a graduating student who demonstrates academic excellence throughout the entire program, superlative service exam results and a passion and dedication to the art and science of a sommelier. Vittoria Trattoria and Pillitteri Winery generously provide this award to the most outstanding student of each graduating evening class. The recipient is presented with a magnificent trophy to commemorate the achievement, and a trip for two to the Niagara wine region that includes meals, accommodations and a V.I.P winery tour. A larger trophy is also on permanent display in the foyer to the right of the Restaurant International with each winner’s name prominently shown.
